Tamil Nadu Southern India
An invitation for women to immerse in the living traditions of yoga, devotion and The Devi; The Mother.
Children are warmly welcomed, encouraged and prioritised.
Meet the Devi naturally evolves each year to meet the need. In April Caroline hosted our first Family Edition, and for this pilgrimage something even more spacious is unfolding. Many mothers shared they longed to bring their children, while others wished to come on their own and still experience the warmth of a family community. Women without children also felt deeply called to the experience.
So we listened.
Meet the Devi is now open to all women. Whether you arrive on your own, with your children, alongside your mother, sister or a dear friend, you are welcome here.
Set within the temples and lush landscapes of Sri Narayani Peedam, home of living avatara Sri Sakthi Amma in South India during the sacred celebration of Diwali, this retreat is an invitation to experience extravagant cultural celebrations, teachings on The Devi, and the warmth of a devotional community.
At the heart of Meet the Devi is a simple invitation.
To remember that the sacred has always been woven through ordinary life.
In the presence of Sri Sakthi Amma, surrounded by community, culture and devotion, we are invited to soften, to listen, and to experience The Mother as a living presence expressed through service, relationship, joy and everyday moments.
This is not for everyone.
It is for the women who already feel the quiet yes.
SRI SAKTHI NARAYANI AMMA - THE HEART OF OUR RETREAT
Sri Sakthi Narayani Amma, affectionately named Amma, is revered as a living Avatāra of The Divine Mother, embodying the highest feminine energy, Narayani. As the founder of Sri Narayani Peedam and Sripuram Golden Temple in South India, Amma’s mission is to guide humanity back to dharma (righteous living) through devotion, spiritual practice, and selfless service. Amma opens her heart, her home and spiritual mecca for you to experience the depths of her teachings, weaving ancient wisdom with modern relevance, offering a path of both inner awakening and compassionate action in the world.
LAKSHMI’S GOLDEN TEMPLE
The Golden Temple at Sripuram is more than a marvel of craftsmanship, it is a radiant embodiment of devotion, beauty, and sacred geometry. Conceived by Sri Sakthi Amma and adorned with over 1,500 kilograms of pure gold, it is the largest golden temple in India. Every surface, from dome to detail, reflects not just light, but intention.
Dedicated to Lakshmi - the goddess of abundance, love, beauty, and spiritual wealth - the temple is built in precise alignment with Vastu Shastra, the ancient science of sacred architecture. Vastu does more than shape structure; it channels cosmic order. Through its proportions, alignments, and elemental harmonies, the temple becomes a living yantra, concentrating and circulating divine energy.
Handcrafted by local artisans, every facet bears the imprint of devotion. As one walks the star-shaped path through lush gardens toward the sanctum, the geometry of the journey becomes a meditation. Each curve and corridor invites stillness, reverence, and radiant presence.
More than a destination, the Golden Temple is an experience - a mirror of the inner sanctum - awakening gratitude, remembrance, and the living presence of the divine feminine in all her forms.
A RETREAT FOR WOMEN, A PLACE FOR FAMILY
Film photographs from our last family retreat are by Jana Brunclikova of The Secret Kitchen.
Meet the Devi was born from a simple desire: to create a pilgrimage where women could deepen into spiritual practice and now women are doing so while sharing the beauty, devotion and joy of Peedam with their children.
Children are not separated from spiritual life, they are welcomed into it. Through temple life, seva, nature, community and play, they experience devotion as something to live.
Each morning, while the children are lovingly held in their own three hour program, the women gather for the daily retreat container of movement, meditation, wisdom sessions and devotional practice. This dedicated time invites each woman to turn inward, deepen her practice, and immerse herself in the living teachings of The Devi.
Through creativity, cultural activities, animal care, art, chanting and play, children are immersed in the spirit of Peedam in ways that are engaging, age appropriate and deeply memorable.
Beyond these dedicated sessions, the community naturally supports one another, creating space for mothers to receive Ayurvedic treatments, rest, or simply pause throughout the afternoons while remaining responsive to their children's needs.
Outside the dedicated programs everyone comes back together. Meals, temple rituals, seva, celebrations and the everyday rhythm of life at Peedam are shared as a community.
Meet the Devi is held as a collective experience. Everyone is invited to gather, practise, serve and celebrate together. For mothers, children remain the priority. If they need rest, reassurance or a slower pace, that is honoured without hesitation. Family life is welcomed as part of the practice.
Whether travelling alone, with children, alongside a mother, sister or dear friend, every woman is welcomed into a living community where devotion is woven naturally through everyday life.
MEET YOUR HOST AND FACILITATORS
Over the past four years Meet the Devi Retreats founder Caroline has lovingly developed this pilgrimage, now bringing together a team of remarkable women to create a deeply held experience for women and children.
CAROLINE WELS
Caroline will guide the daily wisdom sessions throughout the retreat, sharing the living teachings of the Divine Mother, the way of life at Sri Narayani Peedam, and practical pathways for weaving these teachings into everyday life. Her work is grounded in presence, devotion, and lived experience, offering spiritual practice in a way that feels authentic, accessible, and deeply human.
Having spent years travelling to Peedam and integrating Amma's teachings into her own life, Caroline understands both the beauty and realities of family life. She creates an environment where women and children can participate naturally, discover and experience the sacred together.
For Caroline, this pilgrimage is about supporting guests in discovering of the Divine in everyday life and returning home with something real to continue living long after the journey has ended..
VEDA DEVI
Veda will be leading the children's program throughout the retreat, creating a warm, playful, and nurturing space where children can feel safe, inspired, and at home within the sacred rhythms of the Ashram.
Holding a Master's degree in Education and Indigenous Studies, Veda has spent more than a decade working closely with children and families as a nanny, educator, and guide. She is also a practicing healer, yoga, breathwork, meditation teacher and spiritual coach.
Having walked in devotion to Amma for over a decade, Veda brings a deep understanding of the Ashram, its traditions, and living teachings. Her calm presence, experience, and genuine love for children allow families to relax, knowing their little ones are being held with great care as they experience the joy and wonder of Peedam.
ANGELA JESSUP
Ange is a kinesiologist, yoga teacher, and mother of four with a deep love of Vedic wisdom and the Divine Mother. For more than 15 years she has explored yoga, meditation, Reiki, kinesiology, and energy healing, guided by a sincere devotion to understanding herself and supporting the healing of others.
After hearing Amma's call for over a decade, Ange finally made her first pilgrimage to Peedam in April 2026 Meet the Devi Family Edition, a journey she describes as a true homecoming.
On retreat, Ange will be a gentle and steady presence for guests and their children, offering practical, emotional, and energetic support as they settle into the Ashram and open to all that this sacred pilgrimage has to offer.
ANABEL JOY
Anabel will be guiding daily yoga, breathwork, and restorative practices throughout the retreat, offering participants a space to ground, replenish, and gently integrate their experiences.
Having previously spent a lot of time living at Peedam, Anabel brings a deep familiarity with the rhythms of the Ashram and the sacred atmosphere of this pilgrimage, her embodied knowing of Devi and Amma’s teachings, deliveed with her calm, freindly, compassionate presence supports people to soften into the journey while staying connected to their bodies and inner experience.

Narayani
Narayani is the highest form of Devi, The Mother, expressing herself through the many qualities we know as Saraswati, Lakshmi and Durga. She is wisdom, abundance and courage, united in unconditional love and brought to life through the sacred act of seva.
Throughout our time together we'll gently explore these three powerful aspects of The Mother through wisdom sessions, embodied practice and self enquiry, discovering where they already live within us and where they are calling us to grow.
In seva we do not simply offer our hands.
We offer our attention.
Every meal served, every flower arranged, every space cared for becomes an opportunity to express The Devi’s qualities in ordinary life.
She is generous.
She is compassionate.
She is discerning.
She is fierce when protection is needed.
She forgives.
She holds clear boundaries.
She loves without keeping score.
Seva is devotion in motion.
It is The Devi made visible through the way we meet the world.
SEVA - THE PATH OF SELFLESS SERVICE
KARMA YOGA AS OUR FRAMEWORK
Seva, selfless service, is one of the most beautiful expressions of devotion at Sri Narayani Peedam.
It is love in action.
Throughout the retreat, women and children who wish to participate are invited into meaningful acts of service that form part of daily life within the ashram community.
The children will be doing a lot of this while adults are in their program but adults will also be able to experience these beautful parts of Peedam operations and community woven into our daily schedule.
Seva is not about doing more.
It is an opportunity to experience the quiet fulfilment that arises when we offer ourselves in service to something greater than ourselves. Seva is a pathway to clearing our Karma.

AN INVITATION INTO A SPIRITUAL WONDERLAND LAND
AN INVITATION INTO A SPIRITUAL WONDERLAND LAND
Devi is Everywhere
At the heart of Meet the Devi is a simple remembering. The Divine Mother is not something we travel to find. She reveals herself through relationship. Through the woman sitting beside you, through the child placing flowers at the temple. Through shared meals, quiet mornings, tears, laughter, seva, prayer and presence. At Sri Narayani Peedam, spiritual life isn't separated from ordinary life. It is lived. This pilgrimage is an invitation to experience that way of being for yourself. To remember that devotion isn't reserved for ceremony. It lives in the way we care for one another. The way we welcome children. The way we serve. The way we rest. The way we walk through the world. Whether you come on your own, with your children, with your mother, your sister or a dear friend, you become part of a temporary community held by something far greater than any one of us.
Perhaps that is what it truly means to Meet the Devi.
To discover that the Mother has been quietly meeting you all along.
